On the way home from Bournemouth after our lovely time in the sun, we stopped off at a Wildlife park in Southampton – the New Forest Wildlife Park. The main reason we wanted to go was to see owls and otters, and we certinaly weren’t disappointed! The otters were a highlight though. There were 7 little guys in this one in enclosure (they were all quite young) and they were continually crying and mewling up until feeding time. They were […]

Last month, we had our first English beach holiday. We drove down to Bournemouth so that: Miss could learn to kite surf (one of her list items) Rob could hire and kite surf (he misses it much) I could do some reading (I’m reading a good series right now!) Well, we accomplished the first and last one. Unfortunately, Rob was out of luck (no kite surf hire available) but Miss got to learn how its done. She started on the […]

Over the past year since we moved to Britain, we’ve been visiting various film locations where different Harry Potter films were shot. I updated the list with new sights from the more recent films, however there’s still plenty of older ones we haven’t seen yet. I’ve been holding onto a couple of these, but now it’s time to post them. The first one here is from HP3 – HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban. When Harry rides the Knight bus, […]

Recently, there was big thing on in London. You know? They booked the whole of Trafalgar Square and people slept on the streets to get a place in there. Yea, the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiere. So, we didn’t sleep on the streets. But we did go down and check out the madness. It was Harry Potter crazy down there! There were so so many fans there, some dressed up, some parked in their positions that […]

So while we were in Paris we accidentally stumbled across some Invader street art. Actually, quite a few. Invader is a Parisian street artist who sticks tiles to the walls in the shape of Space Invader arcade creatures. He recently became more mainstream when he was filmed, along with Banksy , in the movie documentary ‘Exit through the gift shop’ Once we found one, we decided to have a little look around, and we ended up fining heaps! These three […]

On our last day in Paris, we finally went to the Lourve. The queue was too long on Friday afternoon and we had slept in on the Saturday morning, so Sunday morning was the day to go. There was still a massive queue outside, but the difference was, there weren’t thousands of people inside. It would be a relatively quiet visit. 🙂 The glass pyramid that holds the main entrance to the Lourve is a modern monstrosity compared to the palace buildings […]

When I last went to Paris with my family, Musee de l’Orangerie was closed for renovations. We were pretty bummed at the time, but found other things to do. So this time, Rob and I thought we’d go and see it and the Monet Water Lilies inside. What I didn’t realise when I got there was that Monet ‘s works were presented in 2 rounded rooms. They were beautiful. In these 2 rounded rooms are four large paintings. These paintings – […]

We have been in the UK for over a year now. We landed in London 15th June 2010. However, for the whole year we’d been here, we’d only traveled to British destinations for our holidays. Affordable, but a touch hopeless, no? The last weekend of June, we finally left the island – and went to Paris! I just love all the lovers’  padlocks on the bridge above. 🙂 We were in Paris for only a 3day weekend, but made sure […]
