Ely is a town just a 15 minute train trip away from Cambridge. We’d heard it had a nice Saturday market and, from our tourist book, a magnificent cathedral. So, we climbed on a train and headed up the road. Ely has a beautiful city center with winding streets and shops in old buildings. The town is quite small, but it does have a varied craft market and delicious farmer’s market. We did a little shopping on our way out. However, […]

We had our first visitors last weekend gone. A couple of Rob’s friends from Melbourne, who were now living in London and settling too, came up for their first look at Cambridge. It was a pretty sweet day. Firstly, we had lunch outside King’s College… …before sending Stewart and Amanda into King’s College famous Chapel. (Stewart’s 3 photos below!) It was Stewart’s birthday, so we got him a cake. Because it was a warm day (a balmy 20 degrees!) we […]

Our first few weeks in Cambridge have been relaxing as we’ve been settling into something of a routine. I was working for the first 3 weeks and then Rob started working too. We’ve stayed in an apartment and a B&B for the first month while we found and moved into our rental property (more on that soon). Our weekends have involved continuing to explore the city. The architecture of the buildings are magnificent. I’m sure I’ll not tire of them […]

As part of our moving to the UK, there was this whole process we had to go through. Part of this process was applying for jobs and going to interviews. I had my interview in Cambridge a week and a half before, and now it was Rob’s turn. Rob’s two main jobs he was applying for – Bosch in Stowmarket (1 hr from London) and Dyson in Malmesbury (3 hr from London). But the first interview Rob had scheduled was […]

Our second and third days in Glasgow were great days of wanderings. We started by heading over to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Walking there from town took us through a wonderulf green park with fountains, statues and daycare kids being walked around. The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum was pretty neat. We ignored the museum part, which was mostly for kids, but the Art Gallery was really interesting. They had a few Monets, Picassos etc. What was great […]

Today, I had my first day at work at ARM. My team mates are nice and I’ve got a lot to learn, but I think this role will be great. Rob hass started looking for a rental property for us in Cambridge and is preparing for his second Bosch interview on Thursday. But now back a week and a half to York. We were *wowed* by York. Completely. Really, we quite loved it. So, York is about an hour or […]
