The East Site Gallery is an open air, modern art gallery, painted on some of the remaining sections of the Berlin wall. When the wall was enforced by East Germany, West Berliner’s would graffiti their side of the wall with slogans and images. The east side of the wall had a guarded ‘death strip’  to prevent East Berliners crossing, so their side of the wall was plain. This gallery is symbolic because it is on the east side of the wall, expressing the […]

It’s been getting cold in Cambridge. And its started to rain a lot. When I say rain, I mean drizzle. It likes to drizzle here. So, a couple of weekends ago, we were pleasantly surprised to see it was sunny. So we decided to wander, and take advantage of it. We may not get many more. So here’s some snaps around Cambridge. This is one of the tourist signs in Cambridge, marking out various sites. They’re all over the cbd. […]

We’ve been talking a lot about the house and looking around here than we have about work. Mostly, that’s coz we don’t take photos at work. That’s a tad weird when you’re new to the place. My work at ARM goes well. I’ve been given a bunch of responsibility now and am quickly learning that customer requests are the top priority, even if you really really want to finish what you’re working on. Sort of. There’s a balance to be […]

Absolutely everyone owns a bike in Cambridge. The city is very flat, so it’s easy to cycle. There are bikes, and bike stands, everywhere. Especially outside pubs. Because of this, and so we could ‘fit in’, we bought a pair of bikes. I have not rideen a bike since I was, like, 15. We’re from Auckland! No one rides a bike there! It involves hills and mountains and rain and lots of car dodging. Buggar that crap. Even in Melbourne, […]

Who would’ve known I would’ve gotten so slack. So, there’s been a lot happening and not a lot happening since July. I submitted a conference paper about my work to ACRA, the Australian Conference on Robotics and Automation which is going to be held in Brisbane in mid-December, so long as my paper gets accepted. It was a pretty shit paper really, but such is life. The ones I write post thesis will be better. So, my Masters is officially […]

So, it’s been a month since I posted (my bad) and a few things have happened. So, Rob and I are right into pre-season sport stuff with hockey and soccer twice a week. Rob’s also playing indoor cricket once a week with some mates at work. Since the drought has been so bad, the soccer boys aren’t allowed to actually train on the fields, coz they’re saving them for games. So they run around the field lots once a week, […]

Hi everyone! So, a few things have been going on. For starters, Rob and I both had to apply for Victorian Driver’s Licences to legally drive in Victoria. And they gave me a FULL licence. *grin* Yes, for those of you who don’t know, I was still on my restricted. But I have a full now. And didn’t have to do a test either. Hoorah! A few weeks ago, Rob got a text message from a guy, Alex, who Rob […]

Heya! So, Rob and I had quite a busy weekend the one gone. Firstly, went out to town with the mates on Friday night for dinner and drinks, which was great. On Saturday, we drove an hour out to Footscray to attend Kamana (Aunty Cindy’s son) and Gina’s wedding. I had to call Uncle Hone to check who was actually getting married so I could write in the card before the ceremony. We *knew* we were at the right place, […]

Kia ora everyone! So, not a lot been happening in the last couple of weeks. Charlie came over to Melbourne for work for a week, so Rob and I met up with him and his girlfriend Michelle for dinner, drinks and gambling at the Crown Casino, as well as market shopping the next day at Victoria Market. (note: these markets are pretty awesome for food stuffs, and a good thing to check out as a tourist.) But, prolly the highlight […]

Kia ora everyone! So, not a lot going on the last couple of weeks. Chris’s girlfriend Shona came over for a visit from England, which was kool. Tayaba turned 21 and has been introduced to alcohol. (She’s was a sober party member before…) It’s been getting a bit warmer here, so I only have to wear one jersey to Uni instead of a jacket as well. 😀

Kia ora! So, Rob has been here about 3 weeks now and things are going well. He likes the job he’s in and seems pleased with the work. They’ve given him his own project to work on, and he’s looking to impress. I’m going to a work drinks with him this Friday, so will get to meet some of his work mates, which should be kool. A couple of weeks ago, Rob, my friends and I went to a Footy […]

Hello everyone! So, Rob’s settling well. He’s had his first week at work this week, which went well (at least he says so). He’s being primed up for customer interaction and has contributed some clever ideas for some project designs. He’s particularly pleased with his new computer at home, which is up and running for his gaming. *rolls eyes* Some things won’t change.

Kia ora everyone! So, I’ve been sick the past week. Like, I got *no* work done during the week and didn’t go to hockey trainings or singing. All I did was eat, sleep and watch soccer. *grin* But last night, having had a relaxing weekend doing nothing and catching up on a bit of work, we went out to town to watch the Italy vs Australia match. The crowds were *massive*. There was so many people out and on a […]

Hey everyone, So, in summary, I have been watching alot of soccer. 😀 And having lots of fun too. On Thursday, I went to the local pub ‘The Nott’ with my rusden friends. Thursday night is student night, and the pub was suitably packed. We got a seat next to the fire, which was great. Then we sat up to watch England vs Trinidad and Tobago (2-0 to England) which was awesome fun. On Friday, woke up with a sore […]

Kia ora everyone! Last Thursday, Rob flew over to Melbourne for a job interview and a weekend with me. Yay! His interview was all day Thursday at a company called Invetech who design and make medical equipment. He had to do a personality test, maths test and a formal interview. We find out this week if he gets the job or not. *fingers crossed* On Friday, we had lunch with my Robotics friends and then went into Chapel Street (a […]

Hey everybody, So, Saturday I spent 3 hours looking for hockey shoes after bussing and training all over town. Ack. I decided when I got home that they were a size too big, so went back to the shop the next day to swap them, dammit. So, Saturday night was heaps of fun though. It was the Hockey Club Cocktail Party, which had a Barbie and Ken theme. I went as Punk Barbie, which involved lots of eyeliner and some […]
