For the past month (mid Dec to mid Jan), Rob and I have been in New Zealand. Beautiful, summery New Zealand. But the weather is another matter. It takes 24 hours to fly to NZ from London (not including stopovers), so we decided to have a day long stopover in Vancouver. It’s a beautiful city. I had been to Vancouver once before when I was 14 for an overnight stopover, so didn’t see too much of the city (at least, […]

A few weeks ago, Rob and I got a big treat. We had *2* sets of cousins come visit us in a weekend. We were stoked! My cousins Ngarino and Nepia visited first on Saturday. They were over in Europe for a couple of weeks visiting museums and 2 meeting houses (whare nui). We took them around Cambridge, including into Trinity College below. It was a beautiful day, so was certainly nice to show off the city a bit. A […]

Mel made the move over to the UK just before Christmas. Now she has a job, and has an apartment and is officially living in London. Considering all these factors, it was time to crash on her couch. And we celebrated with cocktails. Our first day out and about, we went to have breakfast at Providores and Tapa Room . It had delicious delicious coffee and yummy yummy breakfast. (Photos below are Mel’s – thanks hun!) The other activity of […]

We still haven’t managed to leave Britain yet for any of our trips. Darn it! But still, there are many beautiful things still to see in the UK. We decided to head out for a daytrip to one of them for a special treat. Norfolk is one of the neighbouring regions to Cambrigdeshire here and it’s coast bends from the north side of Norfolk round to the East. We wanted to go up to the North to visit some sights […]

For the last four years, Rob and I have been living in Australia away from our family and old friends at home. We knew we were only making the distance  further when we moved to the UK too. But one thing has made the move  a little easier – my best friend Mel has made the move to the UK too. So, while Rob was away in China for his work trip, Mel came up (with Paul too!) to hang […]

For at least the next year we’re in the UK, we’re hoping to have a long weekend away every month. In September we were setting up our new house and getting to know Cambridge and in October we went to Oxford. So the next trip in November, we decided to go south to Canterbury and Dover. It’s about a 2 hour drive down that way of the world, taking the M11 then the M25 and finally the M2. It was […]

When we moved to Cambridge, we immediately started hearing about that ‘other’ university city. It was older than Cambridge. It was bigger than Cambridge. Apparently, it was better than Cambridge. Feathres a tad ruffled,  we decided to go visit this older sister for a weekend. A bit of learning was to be had. Bedford It was just the beginning of autumn so it was beautiful driving through the english countryside with the different coloured trees. We decided to stop over […]

Our first few weeks in Cambridge have been relaxing as we’ve been settling into something of a routine. I was working for the first 3 weeks and then Rob started working too. We’ve stayed in an apartment and a B&B for the first month while we found and moved into our rental property (more on that soon). Our weekends have involved continuing to explore the city. The architecture of the buildings are magnificent. I’m sure I’ll not tire of them […]
