One of the highlights of any visit to Istanbul are the markets – the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Bazaar, the Arasta Bazaar and more. They’re busy and colourful and full of goodies! Firstly, the Grand Bazaar with jewellery, lamps, rugs and more! Despite the grandness of the Grand Bazaar, we actually only bought stuff from the Spice Bazaar and the Arasta Bazaar. The latter is much more affordable and a good selection of stores. All the shopping, even for turkish delights, […]

Mel made the move over to the UK just before Christmas. Now she has a job, and has an apartment and is officially living in London. Considering all these factors, it was time to crash on her couch. And we celebrated with cocktails. Our first day out and about, we went to have breakfast at Providores and Tapa Room . It had delicious delicious coffee and yummy yummy breakfast. (Photos below are Mel’s – thanks hun!) The other activity of […]

Cambridge is just a little city. Population 120,000 not including students. There’s not a huge lot of shopping options. So, we ordered some stuff online. Mr Vintage from NZ, of course. Needed to topup the kiwiana tshirt collection. Though I *swear* they bumped the prices because we overseas and not paying GST. Still, they were worth it. I’ve also been ordering things off etsy, an online crafty store where artistics and crafty people sell their wares. I bought A knitted […]

We’ve been talking a lot about the house and looking around here than we have about work. Mostly, that’s coz we don’t take photos at work. That’s a tad weird when you’re new to the place. My work at ARM goes well. I’ve been given a bunch of responsibility now and am quickly learning that customer requests are the top priority, even if you really really want to finish what you’re working on. Sort of. There’s a balance to be […]

So, after our three weeks of interviews and travels, on Saturday 10th July we trained up to Cambridge for the move. It was a mission to drag our suitcases and bags from Caroline’s place through 40mins on the tube (with a change in the middle) and up to King’s Cross regional platforms. But there was such a relief once we got there. No more travelling for a while now. Let’s settle into this new place. Cambridge is approximately an hour […]

Hey everyone, So, its been sweltering here. Between 15 and 32 degrees everyday for the past week. Of course, there’s also a bucketload of bush fires – and this is the earliest they’ve started in years, which bodes poorly for the rest of the summer. Victoria is in for a long dry summer. Water restrictions, bush fires – the works. Still, we’ve been enjoying not wearing jerseys, sitting out in the sun for lunch and warm nights – really lovely. […]

Kia ora everyone! Last Thursday, Rob flew over to Melbourne for a job interview and a weekend with me. Yay! His interview was all day Thursday at a company called Invetech who design and make medical equipment. He had to do a personality test, maths test and a formal interview. We find out this week if he gets the job or not. *fingers crossed* On Friday, we had lunch with my Robotics friends and then went into Chapel Street (a […]

Hey everybody, So, Saturday I spent 3 hours looking for hockey shoes after bussing and training all over town. Ack. I decided when I got home that they were a size too big, so went back to the shop the next day to swap them, dammit. So, Saturday night was heaps of fun though. It was the Hockey Club Cocktail Party, which had a Barbie and Ken theme. I went as Punk Barbie, which involved lots of eyeliner and some […]

Hi everyone! So, some more slow days. It was a lot cooler (*bliss*), but I was still unmotivated, so I didn’t make it into uni to work. I did some work here though, so sweet. The korowai at home is going *fantastically*. Here’s a picture of our progress on this *new* korowai. But, I had my first hockey practice/trial last night, which was awesome! It went really well! So, I’m meant to go back for another trial/practice tomorrow night at […]

Heya, So, it was a long, hot and slow weekend. It was *so hot* here. I hear you guys are having rain and storms – I would kill for some rain now. Its so dry. Ack. So, I did make some shopping trips. On Friday, Wendy dropped me off at Chapel St, which is an *awesome* street shopping stretch. I didn’t even get through a third of the length of the street. Its like as long as Remuera Road, and […]

Kia ora everyone! A day of shopping. Hoorah! Though temperatures got up to 32 degrees here and its just so damn dry. Had my drinking bottle with me *constantly*. And town was packed! But, that’s still to be expected with the Commonwealth games and everything. Definately a lot of tourists around (the bumbags were giveaways). Still, went to Chinatown, which was just full of Chinese restaurants (‘The Spicy Fish’, ‘The Golden Sun’, etc) and herbal stores.

Hello! So, yesterday was a quiet day. I slept til midday (*bliss*), then Wendy took me to the local mall to buy some cutlery and crockery for the apartment. Ended up getting a nice silver-looking set of cutlery and a white porcelein set from Target (similar to Farmers). I figured I’d go standard with the plates then everything else (like place mats, napkins, glasses and mugs) can be pretty.
