A few weeks ago, Rob and I got a big treat. We had *2* sets of cousins come visit us in a weekend. We were stoked!

My cousins Ngarino and Nepia visited first on Saturday. They were over in Europe for a couple of weeks visiting museums and 2 meeting houses (whare nui). We took them around Cambridge, including into Trinity College below. It was a beautiful day, so was certainly nice to show off the city a bit.

A highlight of their visit was a perfect excuse to visit Jamie Oliver’s restaurant in Cambridge – Jamie’s Italian. Ngarino and Nepia accompanied us for lunch.

Outside Jamie's Italian

Jamie has a range of these restaurants all over the country, but what’s great about them is they’re mid range priced and the menu is quite varied. We all ordered pastas. Ngarino had the Scallops and Squid Ink pasta. Looked amazing and the scallops were cooked beautifully! I ordered the wild truffle pasta – it was so rich and strong!

I didn’t try the boy’s meals, but they thought they were great. Rabbit ragu and bucatini carbonara. Delicious.

The restaurant itself was pretty amazing. It was built in the old state library building, so have wonderful pillars and a domed roof in the main dining area.

The restaurant was also decorated with Jamie recipe books (of course), a pasta making machine constantly pouring out the fresh pasta we were eating and a huge selection of salami’s and cured hams. Brilliant!

A delicious meal with great company. Though we’ll have to go back to try the entrees and desserts and every other goodie on the menu. Yum!

Cousins at Jamie's Italian Cambridge

On Sunday, Rob’s cousin Caro visited up from London for the day. She stayed overnight and we went out for a big big breakfast in town.

We also showed her around a little. Wandered past colleges and over to the River Cam. And did a bit of shoe shopping too. XD

Lovely to have whanau in Cambridge

It was so special to have whanau come and visit us. Thank you guys! Was great to see you all.

Arohanui and keep well everyone,

Liz and Rob
