Kia ora everyone!
So, not a lot going on the last couple of weeks. Chris’s girlfriend Shona came over for a visit from England, which was kool. Tayaba turned 21 and has been introduced to alcohol. (She’s was a sober party member before…) It’s been getting a bit warmer here, so I only have to wear one jersey to Uni instead of a jacket as well. 😀
Out to dinner with Chris and Shona (pictured). Shona didn’t know how to use chopsticks, so that made the meal quite humourous.
At a Hawaiian bar in town (which was full of Asians playing loud R&B music).
Was a sunny day yesterday, so Rob, Chris, Tayaba and I went to St Kilda for lunch and to throw a Frisbee in the park. Summer is getting closer….
Rob’s work is still going good, and that project he’s got went really well. They’re sending his designs off to production, which is definately a great start for him.
Wakamaru, on the other hand, has been a pain in the butt. The Mitsubishi engineers didnt want to give us any source code, coz of company secrets and such such, which you can understand. But it means we have no idea what Wakamaru is doing, or how its doing it, and no hope of altering any of it even if we did.
Solution: We write our own system which merely uses the functions of Wakamaru (like moving, playing audio files, looking at people, etc) put we reimplement any function about it that we don’t like. Will be a bit more work in some ways (like having to rewrite whole sections) but easier in others (like we don’t have to try and understand there code with their Japanese comments. o_O).
So, I’m feeling a lot better about the Masters now I actually feel like I’m doing work, which is sweet. Hopefully I’ll be able to get an extension to my Masters at the end since these first few months have been pretty nothing. Will see.
Hope you’re all well. Rob and I will prolly be coming back for NZ’s Labour weekend. (20th Oct to 23rd Oct) and we’ve also booked our Christmas flights (24th Dec to 7th Jan).
Arohanui!
